Kathy Wallace

Kathryn A. Wallace's re-entry into the art world occurred only a few years ago, reflecting an increased desire for fun and discovery. Art was a "first love" from her youth. While majoring in French and German at college in Texas, she squeezed in as many art courses as she could, simply because they were there, however, her first career was teaching French at the university level. After returning to school for an MBA, Kathy embarked on her second career in business management. Studying business was like "learning a new language" for her. She became a well-known name throughout the state of Colorado for her work in small business development, banking management, and through her work at the Governor's Office, as well as through service on numerous community and statewide boards.

Ceramics, an early passion from Kathy's college years, was her first step to reconnecting with a more tactile way to express creativity. She spent a year working full-time with a local potter, then launched her own home-based studio. WallaceVISION and her third career as an artist took off. One thing led to another, and Kathy has added monotype printing and collage work to her repertoire.

Through study with teachers such as Gwen Fox (painting, design) and Jeremiah Houck (ceramics, raku), both in Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael Vigil (printmaking), Taos, NM, she continues to discover new avenues for visual expression. Her art friends, the Rock Creek Canyon Art Group, also provide support. Her work has shown in the Pikes Peak region, Denver and Taos.
