Penny Stewart loves cheese, chocolate and champagne. And she loves to paint even more. Yes, she’s won awards and her work has been featured in books and magazines including Art of the American West, Landscapes in Watercolor, and Southwest Art. And yes, she’s a recognized member of the professional artists’ community. Penny’s an elected Signature Member of both the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society, and she recently became an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America.

Penny paid her dues in the classroom as well. She was a high school art teacher for 25 years. She has her B.A. in Studio Art and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Colorado College.

Penny paints secluded settings, sometimes on location. The early light illuminating a colorful garden, undulating pink hills under a sky of billowing clouds and the beautiful serenity of a sunlit valley have all inspired her. She loves to capture the light and color of each special place in a way that reflects the special joy she feels when she paints.
