Maryse Levenson
My lifelong love of fiber started on my fifth birthday when my father gave me a pair of knitting needles that he had made for me from willow rods. My grandmother provided the yarn and the instructions. Although this love is still very strong, my current passion are weaving and Kumihimo, braiding in the Japanese ancient tradition. Both techniques are very controlled, giving order to my life while allowing me to freely express myself through color and pattern. I continue my quest for new techniques and new directions by participating in workshops with other fiber artists. I create new projects and designs by using software developed specifically for weavers. I am a member of numerous cyberspace fiber groups as well as weaving and braiding guilds, including the Handweavers Guild of America, Complex Weavers. My studio is willingly shared with Princess Minette LaChatte.
